Okay, look, there is nothing I like more than a feel good story about how tough it is to be a mascot.
You deal with all kinds of things… rowdy kids, sweaty outfits, and even just the heat inside the costume.
But there must be an oven in this guys suit…
So how hot can it get inside the suit?
“Somewhere between 130 and 170, 180 degrees,” said SouthPaw.
I don’t know if you realized it, but 180 degrees is the temperature you are supposed to cook food to kill all the bacteria.
It’s also only 32 degrees from boiling.
Oh, and you do sweat a lot, but…
“I can probably fill up about a five gallon bucket full of sweat,” said SouthPaw.
Really?
As a former mascot, I do understand that it can get hot, but relative humidity, and pure heat are two different things. And if you were to sweat a five gallon bucket full… you’d have to lose 40 pounds a game.
P.S. before you do an “interview” mascots, get the facts straight. It’s a tough profession, but not one that requires superhuman powers.
